Absolutely girl i completely understand it took me alot of yrs to make peace with this. I'm so blessed that i placed him where he is because he is getting more than i could've ever imagined. Sounds like you have amazing good adoptive parents for this child and you are so strong its an amazing and loving thing to do. ❤

Holt, I have to say, this is misleading. Currently in the adoption process, my husband and I were declined for Colombia specifically because we weren’t flexible enough with our special needs, even though we checked several boxes on the SN list. Colombia is opening up domestically and unless you are open to more severe special needs, Colombian adoption is becoming trickier. This is by no means meant to discourage anyone from adopting, but as an adoptive mom myself, it really does help to have the facts up front as the adoption process is no joke.

I gave up my daughter for adoption over 50 years ago, in the days before open adoption existed, before divorce was even common. People thought there was something wrong if a child didn't have a father, and they thought there was a weird bond if the mothger kept the baby. I have since met my daughter and she had a good life, but I went through re-making this decsision hindreds of times. I still go over it in my mind today, but I don't see what I could have done differently. I am glad that so many young women have a chance for an open adoption today. There is so much grief the old way, when society wanted to pretend that adoption didn't exist. A woman I know wrote a book calling birthmothers "Solomon's Mother's" and that is truly what it felt like. I did what was the best for my daughter, but I sure didn't do what was right for me. And it changed my life. It's a wound that never heals.

I'm watching this in 2023, i hope they're both happy and doing well ❤

praise be to god! warms my heart to witness a helpless child find the loving graces of a new family who will instill in him god's will and erase his identity. as a korean adoptee, i am touched by the good intentions of americans willing to spread gods love through the ministry of adoption. this child who will never again see his birth mother or find cultural or racial belonging in his new family deserves to be saved as one of god's children!

I would love to adopt from Colombia 🇨🇴 someday! One of the reasons is because I can speak some Spanish, a language that I’ve been learning since I was 5 years old! Also adopting a sibling group from there would be interesting too!

I was in put in Holt Orphanage in Il San back 1960. I lived in the orphanage 9 years. I was adopted back in 1970 and went to United States in 1972. I went back to Il San back in 1990 when I was stationed in Korea. Molly Holt was running the orphanage and my understanding she passed away. Who is running the Orphanage in Il San? Is Molly Holt buried by her parents?
